Lisbon, Portugal, October 26-28, 2015
In this paper, we introduce an educational application demo, the American Sign Language STEM Concept Learning Resource (ASL CLeaR). The ASL CLeaR addresses a need for quality ASL STEM resources by featuring expertly presented STEM content in ASL through an ASL-based search function and a visuo-centric search interface. This paper describes three components that make up ASL CLeaR, discusses the main objectives of this work, and suggests future work that could lead to improved educational outcomes for deaf and hard of hearing students in STEM topics.
